Government to provide free Mobile Security to save users from Cyber Attacks

The government of India has decided to offer free mobile security features to all the mobile phone users in its subcontinent as a part of ‘Cyber Swachhta Kendra’. Thus, with this move, India will become the world’s first nation which is interested in keeping its populace isolated from cyber attacks.

As a part of this 90 crore project which is going to spread over a period of next 5 years, the Indian government is going to provide a free anti-virus to all PC and smartphone users in India. After a couple of years, the project will be extended to other basic mobile phone users who can access web services (via GPRS) on their phones through their respective telecom carriers.

To start this initiative, the Information and Technology Ministry of India have launched an anti-malware analysis center on February 21st, 2017. The center is said to facilitate free antivirus software to personal computers and smartphone users in India.

As Indian Prime Minister Shri Mr. Narendra Modi is encouraging his nation’s populace to go digital and make payments via smartphones, let’s hope that the latest program will help Indian populace banish all sorts of apprehensions related cyber security.

CertIn, an Indian cybersecurity watchdog will first analyze information on systems which are infected and will send it to ISPs and banks. These organizations will then identify the users and will provide him/her with a link to the center. Then the user can download the antivirus or anti-malware tools from the link which has been provided and use it to disinfect their devices.

Cyber Swachhta Kendra will be a government organization solely funded by the Indian government. It will act as an analysis center on which 58 internet service providers and 13 banks have registered themselves.

By June’17, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team will form a National Cyber Coordination Center which will monitor and handle all issues related to cyber attacks on Indian Internet space in real time.

In order to make India digitally successful, cyber security will play a crucial role. So, for this reason, the government of India has taken this initiative to benefit its populace.
