Microsoft to acquire cloud monitoring startup Cloudyn!

Software Giant Microsoft is all set to acquire cloud monitoring startup Cloudyn for a price of $60 million. As per our sources, the purchase price may vary by few million dollars by the end of the deal and can only be confirmed when the deal reaches the desk of US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

According to Crunchbase, Cloudyn, founded in 2011 was raised with a $20.5 million investment by investors which include Carmel Ventures, Infosys, and Russia’s Titanium. If in case, Microsoft goes with the deal, Cloudyn’s selling price will be at least more than double up or nearly four times the money raised.

Technically speaking, Israeli startup Cloudyn is a company which offers solutions that enable companies to monitor their cloud computing usage and optimizes their usage. The company already supports multiple cloud infrastructures like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack. As per the details available from Crunchbase, more than 80% of customers of Cloudyn are from the United States and rest is from countries like Asia, Canada, and Australia.

In brief, Cloudyn offers a solution for hybrid cloud environments with a visibility into usage, performance, and cost, coupled with actionable recommends to users to adopt cloud services with confidence.

As the cost, implementation, and usage of network connectivity have increased in recent times, mobile devices with strong computing power are in great demand. And as less storage has become a norm, cloud services are said to explode in due proportion in coming days.

Microsoft wants to tap this market with the purchase of Cloudyn, as the latter has posed it as an agnostic and intelligent companion to how businesses are actually using the cloud services.

As corporate IT environments are showing a lot of interest in hybrid cloud deployments spanning both cloud and on-premise deployments, firms are showing a lot of interest in using cloud services from a range of providers. Thus, it allows companies using multiple cloud environments not only use different platforms as per their needs and budget but also allows the flexibility of optimizing the services, which includes increasing capacity on go.

If Microsoft buys Cloudyn, it will not only help the Redmond giant keep a tab of its services working in the cloud, but will also help the Technology giant with a helpful nudge in the mix.

Let’s hope Microsoft acquires Cloudyn and starts dominating the cloud space.
