Debenhams Flowers suffered a major cyber attack which leaked critical info of more than 26,000 customers. The info includes names, addresses and credit card details of the web florist. Immediately, the UK’s florist retailer released a press statement saying that hackers hit its third party supplier called Ecomnova Ltd that owns and sells operates flower & gifting website including Debenhams.
Following the hack claims, Debenhams website immediately suspended all the sales & services related to wines, personalized gifts and hampers along with flower sales and notified the law enforcement agencies.
In the meantime, a spokesperson of Debenhams Flowers said that none of the customers of the main website i.e Debenhams.com were affected by this attack.
The customer support team of the online florist are contacting those who were affected by the hack and are advising them to take precautionary steps to mitigate the risk.
Despite being targeted by hackers, Debenhams shares remained at a high price on Friday at the stock exchange. Means, the patrons on the web florist remained unperturbed with the hack rumors.
In the latest media statement released just a few minutes ago, Debenham said that it has notified the Information Commissioner’s Office and GCHQ about the cyber attack. And is working with law enforcement authorities and cyber security experts to support Ecomnova in investigating this malicious activity.
Sergio Bucher, The Debenhams Chief Executive apologized for the breach and assured that the incident will never get repeated in future.
