Are Britain and Germany ready for pre-election cyber attacks?

As France’s newly elected President Emmanuel Macron is busy enjoying the success of the win, the focus of the media has now turned towards Britain and Germany. The only question which lingers in everyone’s mind is “Are Britain and Germany ready for pre-election cyber attacks?”

It is now a known fact that shortly before the midnight of Friday a massive coordinated cyber attack was launched on the France’s then Presidential front-runner Emmanuel Macron.
As per sources, hackers succeeded in getting their hands on some of the critical docs related to Macron’s future vision in developing his nation.

Some of the staff members of Macron who like to stay anonymous said that the hack released some internal docs related to Macron’s financial resources used for election funding and some other account documents along with some classified emails.

After taking a note of the events, authorities from US Pentagon has issued a tip off to law enforcement agencies of Britain and Germany early today. They say that the chance of hackers sophisticatedly hitting the political landscape of Britain and Germany by targeting pre-election events and the final day are high.

It’s a known fact that Hillary Clinton became a victim of cyber attack early last year. And that made her lose elections to the present US President Donald Trump.

Thus, quoting the example of what happened last year before the US 2016 polls, the authorities from pentagon said that the two nations must consider going for a paper ballot rather than an electronic ballot.

On reacting to the alert issued by US NSA, the Britain’s National Cyber Security Center (NSCS) said that it was already on a high alert and is taking all preventive steps to keep the cyber attackers at bay from elections.

Note 1- British Prime Minister Theresa May surprised her country last month by calling for a general election to be held on June 8th, 2017.

Note 2- On the other hand, the government of Germany has also announced last year that it is going to hold its general elections in September this year.

Hence, with whatever happened in US 2016 polls and in the latest France elections which eventually witnessed Emmanuel Macron win the presidential chair, its better if, Britain and Germany take preventive measures in a proactive way to thwart cyber threats of any intensity.
