Google which offers Android based mobile operating systems to smart phone manufacturers is now offering a new security service in & to its Play Store users. The internet Juggernaut from now on will offer a mobile security system that protects apps on user’s smart phone and on those on its Google Play Store.
Google Play Protect which made its beta debut in September last year is now being offered to everyone. The security system will now on be available on each and every Android OS based smart phone in Settings>Google>Security Tab feature. In this section, ‘Google Play Protect’ will be available as an option, under the security status tab.
Technically speaking, it is a new service that protects apps in the Google Play Store from all kinds’ cyber threats. Furthermore, when activated on the phone, the system also automatically checks and scans for security threats in the device and hence helps in keeping the phone isolated from all kinds of malware threats.
The highlight of this security system is that the user can keep a track of his missing phone by the feature called “ My Device”. This feature allows the user to locate the device by signing into their respective Google accounts. The feature also allows the user to lock the phone on a remote basis and post a message on the lock screen so that if anyone finds it, they can return back to the owner of the phone. And if you suspect that the phone could have been lost on a permanent note, you can automatically erase all the data on the phone device to avert any kind of data security crisis in future.
According to the details available to our Cybersecurity Insiders, Google Play protect has the potential to scan billions of apps on a daily note to make sure that everything remains safe and secure.
Google has also disclosed that its Google Play Protect has the capability to protect users who are using Chrome Bowser in their respective phones. The security system immediately alerts the chrome user as soon as they are visiting a suspicious page and takes them back to safety after alerting them.
