Are you interested in knowing the details of all those compromised passwords which you’ve been using on some web services accounts? Then “Have I been pwned” can help you in doing so.
“Have I been pwned” is basically a website which helps all web service users to find out if the passwords which they are using are safe or not. The website says that more than 306 million previously hacked passwords are being offered to enthusiasts for scrutiny and more in millions will follow soon.
Security Expert Troy Hunt from Australia is the owner of this website which offers a search tool to know whether a password is among those hacked passwords that need an immediate change.
Users can either download a 5.3GB download or can use the URL of “Have I been Pwned” to know about their passwords breaches.
Mr. Hunt said that he compiled the list from dozens of data breaches and added that all the text searches made by online users on his website will remain anonymous.
Mr. Hunt says if a password comes back with a hit on the service, then it probably means that the user should restrict them from using it, regardless of whose accounts it originally appeared against.
“Have I been pwned” is also offering a list of passwords which never have to be used and they are as follows-

Troy says that the password data which has been compiled includes data breaches which occurred on websites such as Adobe, Linkedin, Minecraft Pocket Edition, Adult Friend Finder, Sony, Tesco, VTech and Ashley Madison.
Troy Hunt will also update his Pwned website database with the passwords which have been compromised in last year’s yahoo email hack. However, he added that still, they are some things to be sorted out on this issue, before he could make it open.
