Mac malware is said to have increased by 230 percent in the last 12 months and experts suggest that a further increase is likely possible in 2018 as Mac Apple Store is being infected by a tidal wave of scam software.
All these days, all reports emerging in the media said that malware infecting Android malware was on the rise. But the new report from Santa Clara firm Malwarebytes suggests us that it’s vice versa in practical as Apple’s Mac and iOS devices are in actual being infected more than Google Android loaded smartphones and tablets.
The report suggests that more malware families have appeared in past 12 months than in any previous year in Mac History. And from them, the new Proton Remote Access Trojan happens to lead the pack.
Experts from Malwarebytes suggest that Proton has the potential to exfiltrate password data from a variety of data sources like Browser auto fill, 1Password vaults, and Mac operating system Keychain.
Malwarebytes security report suggests that Android ransomware increased by 138% in the first 3 months of the year. But in the end, it is the Mac software which has taken most of the assault.
Armando Orozco, the Senior Mobile Intelligence Analyst at Malwarebytes suggests that mobile malware attacks are very low on Windows loaded devices and have increased on Mac software operated devices in recent times.
Orozco added that FruitFly attack on Macs happens to be the most creepy among them.
According to an analysis of security firm Synack, more than 400 computers were infected by FruitFly and much more such as these could have been out in the open.
