Mobile Security report reveals top blacklisted apps by Enterprises!

Appthority, a company which offers enterprise mobile threat protection has compiled a report which throws light on common apps which could lead to data leakage and privacy risks in enterprises. The report provides a visibility into app usage and risks to inform enterprise policies and helps CIOs and CTOs in taking measures to reduce cyber threats in enterprises.

The Enterprise Mobile Security Pulse Report of Appthority says WhatsApp Messenger, Pokemon Go, and WinZip are a threat to enterprise businesses as they offer data spillage and pass on critical info about the users and the network which they are using. The report also confirms that these malicious apps do not comply with security policies in actual and can indulge in shadow data storage activities.

Appthority says that many commonly used apps approved by BYOD and COPE policies in enterprise environments are in reality posing as risks to sensitive corporate data. The report says that apps such as Uber, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger are the riskiest Android apps commonly found in enterprise environments. And the riskiest iOS apps found in enterprises are Facebook, Pandora, and Yelp.

The full Pulse report contains the list of top 100 apps (50 Android and 50 iOS) used in enterprises, along with their associated risk scores. It also contains most common destination countries for mobile data and the reputation of the URLs used most by the mobile apps among enterprise customers.

Note- Trend Micro and VMware have announced a new partnership in July this year and are planning to create new solutions which will automatically detect and tackle mobile threats on corporate networks.
