We all know that South Korea is going to host the 2018 Winter Olympics held from 9 to 25 February 2018 in Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium, Pyeongchang County, South Korea. Since the Pyeongchang 2018 sporting event is facing cyber threats from some rogue nations, the government of South Korea has decided to secure the event with more than 10,000 warriors.
The organizers of Winter Olympics is said to have hired the services of a well-known cybersecurity firm which is adept at keeping all variants of cyber threats at bay. Some sources even report that the agency is being led by a team of experts from US Intelligence.
Although North Korea has announced a peace treaty with South Korea till the closure of the sporting event, it did not keep its word till date. As its state-sponsored hacking groups are still seen indulging in espionage-related activities on the organizers of the winter Olympics.
In order to be on a safe side, the government of South Korea has decided to seek the help of a cybersecurity firm who will from now on keep the event secured from cyber attacks with the help of 10k cyber warriors.
Additionally, the country has also prepared for the worst and has pressed more than 60,000 security personnel into service to isolate the event from terror attacks, drone strikes, hostage situations and all-out war situations.
From past two weeks, Korean officials have arranged several mock drills in order to prepare themselves for the worst.
Meanwhile, the United States and South Korea have decided to cancel large-scale military drills planned for March and April of this year to avoid the risk of angering Kim Jong led North Korea. They know that any instigation from them could make the situation worse as Kim Jong is known as a ‘man of retaliation’.
