Facebook after the Cambridge Analytica data scandal seems to have started a blame game. In a recent blog post put on the company’s official blog the social media giant has pointed fingers at Google, Amazon and Twitter for using data collection tactics as it does.
Furthermore the worlds leading social networking website said that Google goes a step further by tracking user activity on the web to make its collection bells of its advertising campaigns ringing.
It’s obvious that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is feeling the heat ever since it was revealed last month that more than 87 million of his firms’ user data was harvested without their knowledge and the info was utilized to influence the US 2016 Polls which went in favor of the 45th US President Donald Trump.
Since then Zuckerberg is found trying his best to justify the user data collection or spying techniques used by his company.
Now, after being testified before the Congress, Mark might have fallen into a mood to make it clear that his company is not the only platform which collects data on its users. But even others working in similar business do the same.
“Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn, all have ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ button to help people share their knowledge on services”, said David Baser, the product managing director of Facebook. Mr. Baser added that Google uses analytics to define its user’s online behavior in a specific way and the same is being followed by Amazon, Twitter, and Pinterest.
These companies and in fact more of them also offer ad campaigns by sending user data to product and service offering firms each time a user visits their website said Baser.
Baser added that companies like Google track user info such as IP addresses, cookies, internet browser details and info of operating system to target users with specific ads.
However, the blog post updated recently fails to give a valid explanation on ‘Shadow Profiles’.
Note- Shadow Profiles are those where data related to internet users is collected even if they do not have a Facebook account.
