Office 365 and the Long Tail of SaaS Apps at Gartner Symposium

This post was originally published here by  Sophia Zheng.

Bitglass just attended the Gartner Symposium & ITxpo in Orlando, Florida, where we had a fantastic time. With more and more companies moving to the cloud, people were eager to learn about cloud access security brokers (CASBs)like Bitglass and how we can secure their use of any cloud app. As usual, everyone wanted to get a pair of our limited edition CASB socks, too!

At the conference, we saw firsthand that cloud security is, and will continue to be, a top interest for companies. We noticed that customers and prospects typically begin by trying to secure major cloud apps, such as Office 365, and then move to securing apps that fall under what we call the long tail of SaaS. These long-tail applications are used less frequently than the likes of G SuiteBox, and Office 365, meaning that they pose less of a data leakage threat. So, it’s good news that enterprises are recognizing that they should secure their most-used apps before those that are used far less often.

Next, our CMO, Rich Campagna, gave a presentation on how major organizations secure their cloud footprint. During this talk, Symposium attendees learned how Bitglass secures major and long-tail SaaS apps for current customers in the pharmaceutical, financial services, and healthcare industries.

Last but not least, while in Orlando, the Bitglass team was able to enjoy some of the best fried chicken, chocolate pecan pie, and moonshine of all time! We’re already looking forward to attending Gartner Symposium next year. Bitglass is excited to continue driving the CASB space with its leading technologies – 2019 is going to be a great year.
