Christie Digital, the Cypress, California based company which is into the manufacturing of DLP Projectors and various digital cinema projectors has announced that a malware attack has halted the production of its devices on a worldwide note and its workers had to be sent home due to the disruption.
Dave Paolini, the Public Relation Manager of ‘Christie Digital’ said that the attack disrupted the entire network and the repercussions were being felt on operations at international level.
“The incident was worldwide, but we have recovered quickly”, said Mr. Dave.
Sources reporting to Cybersecurity Insiders say that disruption was caused due to a ransomware attack on the production servers in Canada and China. As the machines were running on software controlled computers, the impact was directly felt on the production units- mainly on the Chinese segment. But the company has a business continuity plan in place and so triggered it on time to save the company from monetary loss due to downtime.
The management of the DLP Projector manufacturer doesn’t want to provide details on when the cyber incident took place and who was behind it.
However, the company released an update a few hours ago which says that the hourly staff is back to work as usual and the rest will be back from Tuesday next week.
Note- The Company’s administration is headquartered in California, while the production and manufacturing units are based in Kitchener, Ontario (Canada) and China. Founded in 1929, the company is now a wholesome subsidiary of Japan’s Ushio, Inc and is said to have 1500 employees on a worldwide note.
