Switzerland based Professional Services provider KPMG has been pressed into service to probe into the cyber attack on Football Association of Ireland (FAI). Already companies like Delloite, KOSI and Grant Thornton along with Mazars have been pressed into service to look into the financial issues which arise during the troubled period for the sports association.
And now a cyber arm of KPMG has been asked to probe into the cyber attack made on the sports body.
It has to be notified over here that the cyber attack on FAI occurred when the football governing body was going through the financial crisis. Coincidentally the incident occurred when Ireland government ordered for a probe on the finance committee which was spending on behalf of the sports association between 2015 & 18.
The crisis took place as soon as Noel Mooney was appointed as the interim boss of the football association which was later opposed by Shane Ross the Minister of Sports, Transport, and Tourism.
A source from KPMG said that the company has the ability to analyze large data sets, deleted and ephemeral data in order to prove events in a chain.
KPMG is now assigned the duty to probe into the incident where email content from the past 8 years was stolen for reasons.
Gardai or the Police Service Association of Ireland have confirmed the cyber attack news and will work with KPMG hand-in-glove to probe the matter in detail.
Data Protection Commissioner of Ireland is yet to react on the issue but admitted that the details of the incident were brought to its notice by the authorities last week.
