A special group of Britain’s military personnel dubbed as ‘Keyboard Warriors’ is reportedly being trained as tech-savvy soldiers to fight Russian Trolls and Twitter terrorists. And this news piece was shared by Lieutenant General Ivan Jones through a media update.
“The objective of establishing such a digital army is simple, to fight bad actors spreading fake news and to curb cyber-attacks on the UK’s digital infrastructure. Officially known as ‘Six Division’, members of the team will be recruited from special forces, Royal Air Force, Navy and Field Army” said Lieu. Jones in a recent interview to ‘Telegraph’.
And all these tech warriors will be professionally trained in Information Warfare, will have to pass all the standard physical and fitness tests like traditional soldiers and will also be trained in advanced weaponry along with covert surveillance added Mr. Jones.
From the past two years or specifically speaking from the end of US 2016 polls, Vladimir Putin led Russia has been facing numerous allegations that it has emerged as a master in spreading fake news by hiring freelancers from different platforms for its online disinformation campaign.
For instance, Kremlin was caught guilty while spreading false stories on the unprofessional behavior of Britain soldiers in Croatia. Later this story was declared as false by a spokesperson from the British parliament.
Ministry of Defense(MoD) has endorsed the news and added that some former serviceman will also join the army as professionals after undergoing a 3-month training course on digital warfare.
TechVets, a UK based non-profit organization which supports ex-serviceman by re-building their professional careers will also help Britain in thwarting cyber attacks from adversary nations like Britain, China, and Iran.
