IBM has made it official that it is going to offer Paramount Cybersecurity to Quantum Computers by 2020. The tech giant has declared that its Cloud services will be ready to help keep data secure and private on quantum computers from all variants of cyber threats by the said time.
To achieve it, the IBM Security team have developed cryptographic algorithms dubbed as CRYSTALS which are in the testing phase and are expected to offer excellent data security through a lattice cryptography suite.
CRYSTALS are nothing but the basic mathematical problems harnessed together to thwart any algorithmic attacks i.e classical or quantum.
IBM is reported to have open-sourced their algorithms and has submitted its technical thesis to NIST for standardization.
Going with the history, IBM happens to the world’s only tech company to offer quantum computing via IBM Q Experience Cloud platform since 2016. As per the stats available to our Cybersecurity Insiders, more than 28 million users have used the services for different experiments and simulations on the platform alongside 180 third parties which used the services for their research papers on the respective note.
Note 1 – Quantum Computers are those PCs which can use Qubits in multiple states other than just 0 and 1. They are 5 times exponentially powerful than the supercomputers of today’s generation and can be used to break-into life saving medical science advances, financial strategies, artificial intelligence, analytics, and other high-end computing requirements.
Note 2- It is a well-known fact that threat actors who succeed in getting their hands on a quantum computer can infiltrate the most secure systems on the planet by cracking blockchain encryption to steal secure info and destabilize the cryptocurrency market.
Note 3- Some countries like China, Russia, and North Korea have already started to harness the power of quantum computers to wage cyber wars on adversaries. And FBI has already endorsed this news by adding that US adversaries are picking up with the sophistication filled tech to launch cyber attacks on the critical infrastructure of Donald Trump led the nation.
