UK becomes a hub for Cyber Attacks as more Manufactures and Schools become victims

A research conducted by the National Cyber Security Center(NCSC) in association with the London Grid for Learning and Make UK- a manufactures organization says that the United Kingdom has become a hub for hackers to launch cyberattacks as more and more manufacturers and schools are becoming victims to various threats lurking in the cyber world.

Respondents from over 430 schools and 160 manufacturing units have admitted that their organization has experienced at least one Cybersecurity incident in the past 3 months.

Specifying in their report the NCSC says that pupils studying at grade 6 and above are being considered as insider threats to most educational institutions as over 83% of security incidents occurred due to the innocence of the pupils while handling computer systems or networks or due to their over-enthusiasm to explore the cyber landscape in a negative way.

Coming to the manufacturing sector, NCSC in association with Make UK have attributed the sector as the 5th most targeted industry in 2019.
Data loss, theft of capital, and intellectual property along with business disruption were considered as most dreaded threats to the manufacturers as per a report compiled by Make UK.

Alarmingly the researchers have pointed out a fact that more such attacks could have gone undetected due to lack of competency or negligence.

Phishing and malware attacks like ransomware topped the list of cyber risks as 69% of the respondents from the Manufacturing sector and educational field claimed to have suffered an attack.

The most interesting find in the survey is that almost all of the schools and manufacturing companies had best cyber protections measures like AV, Firewalls, data backups, and regular patching.

However, only 49% of them were confident that their plans will work when any untoward situation occurs. And only 0.5% admitted that their company or institution was covered with a cyber insurance policy.

So, is someone from Boris Johnson’s team listening….? Or is he still busy in finding fault with others?
