Trending Ransomware Attack news headlines on Google

    On September 2nd, 2019 which happened to be a labor day in the US, the Souderton Area School District became a victim of a ransomware attack causing disruptions to its technology systems limiting access to email and communication services.

    The Philadelphia based school district has assured that none of the sensitive details or financial details were compromised in the incident. But the malware reportedly managed to disrupt the IT services partially bringing down a halt to the digital school calendar on the very first day of this Academic Year.

    As the school authorities were preparing to inform the details about the incident to FBI and other law enforcement agencies, they are urging the parents of the pupils to contact them directly if in case they have to discuss any sensitive matter.

    Meanwhile, the news is out that a Utah based Medical Service provider was hit by ransomware locking access to data related to over 320,000 patients.

    According to the sources reporting to Cybersecurity Insiders, Premier Family Medical is the healthcare services provider which has become a victim of a ransomware attack on July 8th this year.

    After a probe, the Medical Physicians Group of Utah decided not to bow down to the demands of hackers and instead recover the encrypted data from the backups.

    HHS Office for Civil Rights which also has the permit to store and maintain info share related to breaches in healthcare said that it received an alert from the Premier Family Medical on August 30 this year and has shared the info with the law enforcement.
