Pitney Bowes, a Connecticut based mailing services offering company has disclosed that it has become a victim of a cyber attack as malware has encrypted its database locking down access to its customers.
Highly placed sources confirmed the ransomware presence on the systems, but have no info on how much ransom the hackers are demanding.
Prima Facie has revealed that no client information or customer accounts were compromised by the incident.
Meanwhile, a number of customers from the company have reported via social media that they were experiencing strange problems with the company’s shipping-and -mailing products.
Pitney Bowes officials have reacted to the tweets and released an update that their Enterprise Outage Response team was working on the issue and were busy in resolving the incident as early as possible.
The official website says that Mailing Machines of the company are able to print Indicia, only if the funds are available. Also, SendPro C and P Devices can print shipping labels from the device. According to the official statement, SendPro Online in the US, SendPro Enterprise, SendSuite Live, SendSuite Express, SendSuite Tracking, SendSuite Tracking Online, and the Relay Hub were fully operational.
However, Clients are not being able to fill the postage or upload transactions on their mailing machines. Moreover, SendPro Online in the UK and Canada and the web store related to “Your Account” and Pitney Bowes Supplies are reported to be down.
