American Web Search giant Google has decided to safeguard its users against phishing scams by offering them a new real-time alert system. This technology is aimed to alert users when they visit phony web pages, and online forms were entering personal data such as passwords that could prove disastrous.
As website sophistication has exploded in recent times, there has been an increase in several scams online. The Alphabet subsidiary wants to put an end to this scenario by setting up real-time alerts that will notify its users about URLs which either escape Google crawlers or switch to other domains within a 13-second refresh window.
All we have to do is use Google Chrome browser while browsing which will keep a tab of websites used and will compare the data against a list of safe websites that will be available on the safe browsing servers in real-time.
On an additional note, Google will also offer a predictive phishing analytics service to its chrome browser users by warning them from time to time on entering sensitive info such as passwords on websites found to be malicious or are deemed to be malicious.
As hackers are evolving in their activities, Google is also planning to stay in tandem with them when it comes to safe browsing.
Note 1- If you happen to enter a password on a malicious website, Google Chrome will issue a warning and will encourage you to change the compromised password on an immediate note.
Note 2- Security analysts say that the feature will only be offered to those using Google Chrome which will lead to vendor lock-in.
