Cyber Attack forces Twitter to hire a new CTO

Rinki Sethi, who served as a Chief Information Security Officer at cloud company Rubrik will now join as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the Twitter’s California office. And news is out that she will report to Nick Tornow, and will work alongside Paraga and Michealmontano in making Twitter a number one social networking platform.

Ms. Sethi announced the news via a tweet and said that she’s excited to join Twitter and will oversee all Information Security practices and policies related to the company.

Rinki who has the background of serving world’s leading companies like Intuit, IBM, and Palo Alto Networks in different roles also has the experience in leading non-profit organizations such as Women in Cybersecurity.

She has also played a crucial role as an ‘advisor’ to multiple startups like LevelOps and Authomize and has been hired by Twitter to fill in the position of CTO that has been vacant since Mike Covertino left the company in Dec’19 to join Cyber Threat firm Arceo.

Note- On July 15th,2020 Twitter experienced a social engineering attack where hackers took control of the servers to post ads related to a cryptocurrency scam. Later, a probe conducted by the IT staff of the world’s second social networking giant discovered that the attack was launched after a small section of employees were targeted by a phone spear phishing attack allowing the hacker named KIRK to access credentials of the staff members to take control of the servers at a later stage and gather $100,000 fraudulently. Twitter announced at the end of the month that it has improved its security measures to avoid any such digital embarrassment in the future.
