Hawaii’s law enforcement department has arrested a Waikiki man for carrying out illegal weapons during a ‘George Floyd- Black Lives Matter’ rally in May this year. Now, a probe conducted by the department on a further note threw light that the same man was involved in an email attack that was launched on the Honolulu Police Department’s Computer.
The man in discussion is Christian Grado, 29, who has been put behind bars for sending hundreds on emails onto a server at one go- leading to a denial of service attack where servers are bombarded with fake web traffic leading to network jam and denial of service to authentic web traffic.
It’s proven that Grado used an email sending software to bombard the server of the police department between August 9 and August 10 as the culprit managed to send over 1 email in every 30 seconds for over 20 hours on a consistent note.
As the attack was launched from Grado’s home located in Ala Wai Boulevard, law enforcement authorities could track him down easily using the digital cookies.
In what is known to Cybersecurity Insiders, at the time of arrest i.e. on Sept 24,2020, Christian Grado had in possession a computer filled with software meant to launch digital attacks, drugs and some deadly ammunition.
As per a source from Public Defender’s office, the next appearance for the trial is expected to be in October 20,2020.
Since Grado was arrested in May this year, Deputy Prosecutor Darryl Miyahira has taken it as a big count and has dismissed the defense argument that the email bombing cyber attack was a non-violent offense.
