Artificial Intelligence can detect mental stress in Pregnant Women

We all know how stressed are women when they are going through the pregnancy stage. But researchers say that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology can aid doctors by proactively analyzing the underlying mental stress in women, thus helping them to experience motherhood in a stress freeway.

A 12-year long study, carried out at the University of Seville in Spain, on maternity patients, has confirmed that the technology of AI can not only help in detecting pregnancy disorders like heart birth defects, gestational diabetes, and preterm birth. But can also in cutting down mental stress, anxiety, and depression in women during their motherhood term.

“We all know that mental health plays a vital role in causing the occurrence of risks among pregnant women and computing analysis plays a vital role in keeping the mental condition in pregnant women intact”, says Maria Del Carmen Romero, a researcher at the University of Seville.

Till data computer analysis has helped in detecting dangerous diseases like cancer in time, so that the patient has enough time to go through the treatment to live a long life.

And now, AI could help in tracking down pregnancy emotions in pregnant patients and report them to doctors in time before any untoward takes place adds Ms. Maria.

“And if emotional issues are detected in time, then it can help women in coming out of the biological changes during pregnancies with ease”, says Dr. Geetha Shiva Kumar, MD and working as an assistant professor at the Department of Psychiatry, at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Going forward, AI is playing a vital role in tracking down pregnant women struggling with emotional distress, which otherwise could lead to discomfort and other medical complications add Dr. Geetha.

Note 1- Pregnancy Emotions are irritability, sadness, anxiety, and extreme mood swings and take place in the first 6 months of pregnancy in women due to a sudden spike in estrogen and progesterone levels in the bloodstream of ladies.

Note 2- Currently, a team of young students is working on an AI model that, if clicked, could lead mankind, to artificial wombs where a baby can be grown in a living room in a life pod. As the pod is transparent, those indulging in the growth activity can see the development of the fetus at different levels. This AI womb pod was displayed at the recently held Biodesign Challenge Summit and was created by ArtEZ School of Product and Design.
