Tips to Cyber secure your Apple iPhone

By default, Apple iPhone settings are not set to completely protect their users from prying eyes. But they are highly customizable and can be tweaked in the best of interest.

The foremost thing to keep in mind is to tab your home-screen icons wisely and make sure that some apps such as WhatsApp open only after typing a passcode.

Always inculcate a habit of using stronger passcodes that are a minimum 6 digit long and go for the option of keeping an alphanumeric code. Use the 2 factor authentication that locks down strangers from accessing your device fraudulently.

Nowadays, most apps offer a feature of allowing a user to use a device location only when the app is being used- like Google Maps. This in-turn helps in keeping the snooping eyes at bay that are always interested in siphoning the data and selling it on the dark web.

It is better to develop a habit of reviewing the app permissions once or twice a week. And keep a tab on how much data and storage an app is using on the device.

Make sure that the ‘Find my iPhone’ feature is always on as it helps find the device when it gets lost or stolen.

Ensure that the phones and videos being stored on the device are password protected. As it helps photos or videos sharing by unwanted guests who were just allowed to use your phone to make calls.

Installing adware and malware protection software always helps and better to keep your iOS updated with the latest security fixes.

And ensure that you are using a VPN while using a public Wi-Fi.

Recently, Apple has added a feature that helps protect the device from ‘juice jacking’ that unnecessarily prevents information spill while in a data connection with USB.
