Microsoft, the American tech giant, has warned the government of Australia to halt its response to cyber attacks as it is complicating the company’s attempt to mitigate hacking incidents.
The warning was issued after the Australian News Media starting publishing certain things regarding a critical infrastructure bill of 2020 related to Security Legislation Amendment.
Software giant led by Satya Nadella says that it respects the way the government ensures that the country’s critical assets should be protected from major cyber incidents. However, the company says that the direct involvement of the government would actually undermine the real objectives of the government related to defense and recovery.
To those uninitiated, the government of Australia has proposed the legislation bill that asks the companies to install software on operator systems that could lead to the interoperability, vulnerability, management and maintenance of software, potentially paving way for additional risks to the security systems.
And practically the bill is actually an extension to the existing act of 2018 related to communications, transport, data and cloud.
Note- Microsoft seems to be against the Security Legislation Amendment Bill 2020 that was published in November by the Department of Home Affairs and tagged it as an improper directive that was drafted without the knowledge of the actual situation and technology. So, the tech giant is asking for some amendments and recommending certain changes in the visionary that could cause potential negative impacts, if left, unchanged.
