Scotland School girls have excelled in the ‘Cyberfirst Girls’ competition held by UK recently that was run by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) – a part of GCHQ. Information is out that girls belonging to over 9 schools reached the semi final stage of the 2021 CyberFirst Girls Competition held last week.
As per the details available to our Cybersecurity Insiders, over 6773 girls entered the 2021 year’s qualifying rounds, competing with more than 10k girls from over 600 schools. The competition comprised Cybersecurity puzzles that would lead to the next round, i.e. the UK’s Grand Finale.
All those who have won will go to the semi-finals in which school students from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and English Regions will take part and certain schools like Hyndland Secondary School in Glasgow and Carluke High School in Carluke are going to take part in a virtual mode.
NCSC has been advertising about the event on a vigorous note through different channels from the past few weeks and the competition is being held to encourage women folk taking part in Cybersecurity Profession for an exciting career.
Matt Warman, the Digital Infrastructure Minister, thanked all the girls for participating and making the event a grand success and hoped that the participants will have an exciting career in cracking codes, disrupting cyber attacks and protecting online spaces.
Note- The semi-finals of the CyberFirst Girls will be held on February 19th, 2021 and school pupils from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and other 5 regions from North of England, Central England, the South West, the South East and London will take part.
