A ransomware attack is said to have taken place on the servers of PrismHR that offer Payroll related services to around 2000 companies across the world. The attack has reportedly taken place at the end of February this year and as soon as the IT staff detected the file encrypting malware intrusion; they contained the cyber incident by shutting down the computer network.
PrismHR is yet to release an official statement on this note. However, it has already informed its 200 professional employer organizations that serve to over 2 million employees about the cyber attack and has asked them to monitor their network closely for any discrepancies.
The Massachusetts based company does payroll processing and human resource services to health and financial institutes, assisting them to account over $80 billion payments on an annual note.
Meanwhile, Lactalis, the world’s largest dairy farm, has admitted that its digital infrastructure was reigning under a ransomware attack that led to data breach of some company’s vital data.
Lactalis, that acts as a parent organization to many dairy product brands such as President, Galbani, Lactel, Santal and Parmalat says that no critical data related to customers, products and clients was breached in the incident and it has notified the law enforcement about the digital invasion on its IT infrastructure.
A third party company that has potential to deal with such incidents was asked to investigate and bail the infected IT systems from the attack.
It is still unclear whether the France-based dairy products corporation was hit by a normal ransomware spreading gang or a hackers gang that indulge in double extortion.
