Apple has removed over 1 million malicious apps from its App Store in the whole of 2020, thus stopping more than $1.5 billion fraudulent transactions from taking place. This was achieved with the help of sophisticated technology along with human technical expertise says the American Technology Giant.
Reports are in that there were over 244 million fraudulent accounts that were indulging in abusive activity through the application store. And so the iPhone maker decided to remove them all leading to the blockage of 424 million attempted account creations.
Apple Inc made this announcement at the time when it was facing a £1.5 billion legal battle in the UK for overcharging its customers from the UK for purchasing apps from its App Store.
At the same time, the year 2020 witnessed more than 180,000 developers hosting their apps in the Apple App Store, and out of them, nearly 73% were available for purchase, thus generating a good amount of revenue for the iPad producing giant.
Coming to the 1 million rejected malicious apps; news is out that over 215,000 apps were rejected for abusing privacy features of Apple Inc and 48,000 for exhibiting malevolent features such as espionage or currency mining.
Another 150,000 were rejected for spreading spam, misleading users, or breaching several other violations.
