Bose Corporation that sells Bose speakers and Bose headphones along with some audio equipment has admitted that it became a victim of a ransomware attack in March 2021 and has taken all measures to improve the Cybersecurity posture of the company from then on.
Highly placed sources say that Bose detected malware in some of its systems on March 7th,2021, and took all necessary security measures to contain the incident.
However, on April 29th,2021 the IT staff of the Massachusetts-based company discovered that the cyber crooks accessed some of the files containing information of current and former employees that includes sensitive info such as social security numbers, names, and compensation paid to them while leaving the company.
A forensic team was also hired to investigate the incident and the experts found that the hackers only accessed data and never stole it.
So, Bose is confident that its data never left its server farm and so finding it on the dark web is scarce- at least from the perspective of some senior staff of Bose Corporation.
As soon as the Bose Data Breach hit the google headlines, many of its customers started to inquire about the impact of the ransomware attack on them.
Fortunately, none of them might get impacted by the file-encrypting malware attack on the company that also supplies automobile audio systems to Car companies like Kia, Hyundai, Honda, Fiat, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Mazda, Nissan, Porsche, and Force.
Note- Usually, Ransomware spreaders steal data after launching a cyber attack and then indulge in locking up the victimized company database with encryption. But Bose says that the cyber incident did not involve any data steal and so it might be only a case of encryption.
