First, a gaming company named Electronic Arts is trending on Google news headlines for becoming a victim of a cyberattack that leaked source codes and tools belonging to several of its popular games such as FIFA 21, Battlefield, Frostbite Engine, and Battle Tanks.
Sources reporting to our Cybersecurity Insiders say that the hackers managed to gain access to nearly 750GB of data and stole it; only to post it on the dark web after few days.
Electronic Arts confirmed the news and added that no client data or anything related to the players was accessed or stolen by hackers- meaning there are zero risks for players to be targeted with phishing attacks or identity thefts.
The Redwood-based company that stands as the second-largest gaming company in America after Ubisoft stated that it is taking the help of security experts to investigate the incident to the core and assured that it will share all the information related to the cyber attack with other companies and the government. That will help other companies take proactive Cybersecurity measures before any untoward takes place.
Coming to the second cyberattack that is trending on Google, two schools based in England had to shut down their classes due to a ransomware attack. And the names of the malware-infected schools are ‘The Skinners Kent Academy’ and ‘Skinners Kent Primary School’.
Information such as Medical Records, school trip info, school policies, human resource files, Time Tables, Registers, contact numbers, and student academic-related details was stolen and encrypted in the attack that took place on June 2nd,2021.
While the school failed to bow down to the demands of hackers, the ransomware spreading gang chose to post that data on the web to gain monetary benefits.
Managements of the two schools that are based in the South of England are urging parents and students to change their account passwords on an immediate note.
