Schools operating in whole of Britain will get a free cyber security tool for free from September last week. The tool will be rolled out in a testing phase to help the educational institutes in accessing the robustness of their cybersecurity measures.
Come January 2022, the tool will be available for a premium price that will be enriched with more security measures that can help them scan for ransomware and other malware related invasions on a school computer network.
Dubbed as ‘Cyber Secure’ tool and launched by the Department of Education (DfE) the program to make schools cyber threat free will be rolled out in major cities on an initial note. And by October first week of 2021, the program will be rolled out to schools located in the suburbs.
DfE Cyber Secure Tool will work similar to that of the Corona Virus detection smart phone app. It will be served as zero charge and will be a self-assessment tool that will allow educational institutes to grade their deployed cyber security measures from 0 to 5.
Nick Gibb, the UK School Minister, announced the same in March this year and from then on, the software tool was being developed by a security firm based in Britain.

DfE’s new software will enable school staff and students to safeguard their IT Infrastructure from the digital fangs of cyber criminals- all as a part of Risk Protection Arrangement (RPA) Cyber Risk Pilot program to be overseen in over 500 schools as a pilot project.
