All old Android phones to get the latest mobile security update from Google

Google has announced that it will roll out an additional security feature to all the smart phone devices operating on the Android 6 OS version and above in coming days. Yes, the company has rolled out a special privacy protection feature to all its devices that could block malware and malicious ad trackers from accessing data from the device.

Cybersecurity Insiders has learnt that the upcoming feature will be present by default on the new Android 11 Operating system that will have an auto-reset permission feature. And this feature will prevent an app from accessing storage, mic, camera, and other critical features if it hasn’t been used for over 28 days or 1 month approximately.

The same feature will be rolled to other Android smart phones that are operating on Google Android 6 and above OSes that will help protect billions of devices from becoming targets to cyber criminals.

Having said that, the privacy protection feature will only be rolled out to all devices in December 2021 and will only apply to those OSes that are running on Android 6 to 10 versions and are loaded with Google Play Services- a background running service that ensures security and reliability of a Google device and helps keep the phone updated with the latest security features.

Note- Some Android apps might ask for user permission to turn off the feature as it needs to run in the background. So, even if Google rolls out the privacy and security feature, it can backfire on itself as some of its apps like Google 1 need to run in the background to make sense. And the most important thing is that all apps need to use internet in the background to keep themselves updated with the latest security and service related issues.
