UK National Cyber Force to go after ransomware gangs

All the ransomware gangs operating around the world are hereby warned that a newly established National Cyber Force (NCF) has been assigned the task to shut down the operations of those spreading file encrypting to computer networks.

As there has been an increase in ransomware attacks on companies operating in Britain, GCHQ director, Sir Jeremy Fleming has warned the criminals that they need to count their days as a special force has been set up to track down and shut the operations of Ransomware spreading threat actors.

Cybersecurity Insiders has learnt that the Cyber Force will be digitally tracking down cyber criminals and will keep a vigil on their whereabouts. And from December this year, a crackdown on criminals who were beyond the reach of the law enforcement will be imposed on those launching odious cyber campaigns.

NCF is also planning to take the help of governments of US, India, Australia, Germany and Ukraine in cracking down those behind the spread of ransomware from nations such as Russia, Iran and China along with North Korea.

As a first step towards their aim, the National Cyber Force of UK will start weeding out the criminal actors and state actors and then a crackdown on them on an international note will be kicked off.

US President Joe Biden had already hinted the scenario at the Geneva Summit last month, where leaders from over 30 countries stated they will form in a coalition and will jointly offer harsh responses towards hacking gangs, especially those working for Chinese and Russian intelligence.

Note- Speaking at the Cipher Brief Annual Threat conference, Jeremy Fleming, the GCHQ spy chief, stated ransomware attacks on UK Organizations have doubled over the past year.
