Facebook turns least trusted website in America over data and privacy

In a surprising revelation, over 72% of Americans stated they distrust Facebook and its management regarding data and privacy. Over 56% of Americans believe that the social media giant is causing a negative impact on the society.

The Washington Post was the source that conducted the survey and stated that the populace of North America also distrusts other online service platforms, such as TikTok, WhatsApp and Instagram, with many suggesting a kind of restriction be placed on their usage from next year.

Just 20% of them believe that their presence on social networking websites has yielded them paybacks; with 8% of them chose not to offer their opinion.

Even the connected gadgets such as Amazon Eco did not bag the trust of the American populace as they believe such web connected devices often listen to conversations, record voices and videos and share the information with remote servers- all without the permission of users on respective note.

“Anything that is connected to internet is targeted with advertisements and cannot be trusted for online privacy”, says Fredrick Flambolt, a researcher working independently on a Google related Cybersecurity project on connected devices.

Amazon stood first with the best trustworthiness tag on the list, as over 53% of Americans believe that technology and retailing giant can be trusted in all spheres, with Google, Microsoft and Apple following in the list.

Note- Washington Post is now owned by Jeff Bezos and so the revealed results might seem biased.
