Cloud services now spreading Malware

Cybersecurity researchers from Cisco Talos have issued a warning that hackers are now taking help of cloud service platforms to spread malware Trojans such as Nanocore, Netwire, and AsyncRAT having ability to steal critical info from the victimized devices.

Information is out that currently companies operating in Canada, Italy, United States, Singapore and Malaysia are being targeted by spear phishing attacks since Oct’2021. And as soon as the user clicks on the link in the email attacked in ZIP format, it is being downloaded from platforms such as Azure, AWS and GCP.

Security specialists say that as soon as the Trojan Malware gets installed, it not only accesses confidential data but also acts as a backdoor for other cyber groups to induce ransomware and other such monetizing frauds.

So, as cyber criminals are getting innovative by hosting malware and infecting victims through public cloud platforms, the onus turns onto the CSPs to monitor what is being uploaded, stored and downloaded onto their user devices.

Meanwhile, Italian Luxury Fashion business Moncler has issued a public statement that it was hit by a malware in December crashing its systems on a partial note.

AlphV/BlackCat Ransomware is suspected to be behind the incident and Moncler confirmed that the incident response team worked hard to restore the systems by the start of this year 2022.

Besides, it’s official that the data compromise and the ransomware attack haven’t affected its logistics and the financial results of the highly expensive fashion brand in any way.
