Beware of this RatMilad Android spying Malware

    Zimperium has issued a warning about a novel malware that is in circulation and is impact android devices. The malware is named as RatMilad and is suspected to be developed and distributed by an Iranian Hacking Group.

    The security firm detected that the spyware has capabilities to manipulate files, record audio, modify application permissions and transfer data to remote servers. It also has the potential to hide itself from security software’s and is being circulated through social media platforms and various messaging platforms.

    ZIMPERIUM researchers said that the hacking group’s name is AppMilad and is circulating the phone spoofing app named “NumRent” as a side load.

    Currently, the said malicious software is being targeted at Middle East high profile celebrities including businessmen, socialites and politicians. As of now, the list of victims is yet to be known.

    The only good part is the malware is not being circulated through Google Playstore as it is becoming tough on criminals to flourish on the tech giant’s platform, all because of stringent security protections in place.

    NOTE 1- A spyware is a kind of malware that conducts eavesdropping aka espionage.

    NOTE 2- Iran is one of the adversary nations to United States as it is facing allegations for launching digital attacks on the critical infrastructure of America.
