AI Cyber Attacks to intensify on organizations

AI-driven cyberattacks targeted more than 87% of organizations in 2024, according to a study conducted by SoSafe, a German cybersecurity platform that helps enhance employee awareness of cybersecurity threats.

The SoSafe 2025 Cybercrime Trends report highlights that 91% of security professionals anticipate a significant increase in AI-powered cyberattacks over the next three years, beginning in July 2025.

For those unfamiliar, artificial intelligence can obscure cyberattacks and make them nearly impossible for law enforcement agencies to track. While many organizations across the U.S. and other parts of the world are aware of this emerging threat, most are unprepared due to a lack of specialized talent and insufficient budgets to proactively defend against such advanced attacks.

Interestingly, these AI-driven attacks are often propagated through channels such as email, SMS, and social media, making them harder for experts to prevent or mitigate effectively.

In a related development, China has urged the Canadian government to stop accusing them of conducting AI-based attacks and spreading disinformation among the Canadian population. China argues that these accusations damage bilateral relations and could create unnecessary chaos in the international political sphere due to the lack of concrete evidence.

Misinformation, or “fake news,” often leads to political unrest and can significantly impact the economic stability of nations or even entire regions. As such, China has emphasized that its focus is on promoting global AI governance and opposes the use of AI technology for launching cyberattacks.
