Britain’s Defense Secretary Sir Michael Fallon has said that his country will launch cyber attacks on Russia to retaliate the federal nation’s cyber subversion. Speaking to the media at St Andrews University in Scotland, Sir Michael Fallon asked Russia to stop cyber invasion on England and its NATO Allies. He warned that Russia has to face serious consequences if it decides to go another way.
In a speech entitled ‘Coping with Russia,’ the defense secretary said that Russia was using cyber weaponry to disrupt critical infrastructure of Britain and nations involved in NATO alliance. Fallon said that his nation has enough resources to defend itself from such invasions in cyber sphere, as it does in the air, water, and land.
Accusing Vladimir Putin of stooping to low levels in politics, Fallon used some harsh words against the Soviet President. He added that President Donald Trump was right to challenge NATO to raise its bar against countries which target the North Atlantic Alliance.
Referring to the damage caused by Russia by blacking out French Television Channel TV5 Monde in April 2015, Fallon said that his nation is not going to stay silent against Kremlin anymore.
He added that UK’s Public Accounts Committee has ranked Cyber Attacks launched by Russia as top four risks to UK National Security. And so the government is ready to raise the game.
From past one year, Russia is facing a lot of negativity from the western nations and that’s due to its penchant to take down NATO and the west with cyber warfare.
In December 2016, Ex-US President Barack Obama asked the US Intelligence services to gather evidence which proves Russia’s influence on US 2016 Polls. Officials from CIA and FBI reported to Barack Obama that there was some kind of temperance from Russia in US Elections 2016 which eventually made Donald Trump as the 45th President of United States.
But US President Donald Trump concluded the intelligence reports as ‘nonsense’ and tagged it as a ‘political witch hunt’.
Therefore, all these evidence point out to prove one thing and that Russia is surely trying to make out something by launching cyber attacks on public entities of developed Western Nations.
