Cybersecurity- Insiders

Sansad TV, a YouTube Channel that live streams Indian Parliamentary House affairs, was brought to its knees when some hackers disrupted the operations for about 2 hours. Highly placed sources state that the channel was cyber attacked at 1am IST on February 15th,2022 and was restored to normalcy by 3:48am. Then again, the channel that hosts around 64k videos and has a subscriber base of 6.41 million was hacked by the cyber criminals after which YouTube blocked the channel temporarily and restored it by 6:30Pm on the same day.

Google that owns YouTube did not respond to the incident and not even addressed the issue until this writing.

However, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team(CERT-In), a nodal agency that response to security incidents addressed the issue as true and stated that the social media team of Sansad TV was quick enough to respond and brought back the operations to normalcy within a few hours.

Puneet Kumar, the Joint Secretary, issued a signed statement that YouTube took quick action to restore a vulnerability that allowed the cyber criminals to hack into the Indian government’s streaming channel that streams live Parliamentary sessions.

Note 1- Sansad TV was formed after the amalgamation of Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV on March 2021. And the content was brought live by Indian Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi on September 2021 to enable viewership surge and better branding of the parliamentary sessions to the outside world.

Note 2- Details of those behind the cyber attack on the Sansad TV will be revealed shortly!
