All these days we found nations accusing Russia of launching cyber attacks on their country’s digital infrastructure. But now, the Russian Embassy in London claims that its website was hit by hackers based in the UK which could be a state-sponsored attack.
Officials from Russian embassy say that attack was launched on the website on Monday and they are sure that it has originated from the UK territory. However, they fail to neither accept nor decline that it was funded by Britain’s intelligence NCSC a cyber arm of UK’s GCHQ.
UK government is yet to respond to this issue. But highly placed officials from GCHQ deny these allegations and have concluded them as baseless.
The Kremlin is known to wage cyber warfare against countries operating in the west and has/is been facing immense criticism from the leaders of the west which include UK Prime Minister Theresa May and the 45th US President Donald Trump.
So, the latest alleged incursions from Russia could heighten the tensions between the two developed nations to such a level that it can lead to the third world war.
IT specialists at the Russian Embassy- based near the edge of Hyde Park, Kensington, West London; say that the issue will be dealt in a sensitive manner. And more details will be revealed only after getting an official nod from the Kremlin based headquarters.
Note- Technical details of the attack are yet to be known. But sources reporting to Cybersecurity Insiders say that the hacking group was in an intention to disrupt the services over the Christmas season for reasons.
