Facebook to focus more on Mobile Security in 2021

Facebook(FB) is all set to offer more security options to its users from 2021 to safeguard their accounts from any kind of digital invasions. So, from next year, the company will offer Facebook Protect that will offer a 2FA and a real time monitoring to all its users to safeguard them against all potential threats.

To date, the service was only offered to high-profile socialites and celebrities along with federal agents. But as Facebook wants to win the trust of its users, the social media giant will make 2FA as a mandatory security feature to all accounts.

The company is also intending to offer hardware security keys to those interested- a privilege only available to public figures till date.

Since 2019, Facebook has been working on the aim of protecting its platform from spreading disinformation. Thus, the Mark Zuckerberg led company intends to achieve this initiative by blocking threat actors from creating fake accounts to spread fake news. So, with Facebook Protect misinformation spread has been curbed to a major extent that could otherwise cause immediate harm to the people.

Note 1- According to an estimate of stats counter, over 70% of people involved in the election activity and framework have turned on the 2 factor authentication with no request of the social networking giant.

Note 2- FB is also intending to report publicly identified cyber threats as it helps public firms to slow down the activity of bad actors that eventually deters cyber crime.
