Parler data breach leaks email and contact info of Ivanka Trump and Kimberly

Parler, a free speech social media app, has apparently hit news headlines for all the wrong reasons. According to the Daily Mail, the networking app that was acquired by Kanye West recently accidentally emailed out thousands of email addresses of its VIP users, such as politicians and online influencers.

As per the data available online, the CC and BCC blunder that occurred while emailing led to the leak of contact details of US celebrities like Ivanka Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle.

It is unclear whether the digital blunder was created under vengeance as it is now owned by Ye, the now name of Music Rapper Kanye West.

Around 200 personal email IDs connected to the free to speak application were revealed to the world on Wednesday this week.

Eric’s Wife Lora, Donald Junior, James O’Keefe, Elise Stefanik and Kristi Noem, the governor of South Dakota, were also on the list of leaked celebrities.

Matt Gaetz and Ted Cruz’s government email addresses were also revealed in the breach.

More details are awaited!

NOTE- Parler can be seen as an alternative to Twitter, where the freedom of speech is not curbed and so users are allowed to post anything or everything that comes out of their mind. As there is zero moderation, the user base of the company grew exponentially during 2020. For some reasons, criticism grew against the app and so was removed Apple iOS and Google Playstores. Parler later issued a press statement that the removal of the service from app stores was to cut short competition in the app marketplace. In just 4 years’ time, i.e. from Sept’18, the app reached the target of 20 million users by Jan’21. Some technologists on Redditt argue that the app was being secretly funded by Trump Tower.
