Qualcomm signs a deal with EyeLock to up its position in the world of Mobile Security

Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated has signed a deal with EyeLock LLC in order to use the latter’s solution to up its position in the world of Mobile Security. EyeLock said in its latest media interaction that it has developed an IRIS authentication solution that has been designed to work with Qualcomm chips operating in the entire IoT spectrum.

The newly developed IRIS solution of EyeLock is said to analyze more than 240 unique iris characteristics of each eye to provide a fast and seamless experience with a natural sensing distance of approx. 60cms or 23.6 inches.

Very recently, Novetta, a leader in advanced analytics technology and independent biometric testing judged the performance capabilities of Eyelock’s newly developed IRIS algorithm. The company endorsed the new algorithm for outperforming its competitors with a false accept rate of 1 in 1.5 million for a single eye authentication and a false reject rate of less than 1 percent.

Qualcomm’s Mobile Security Authentication framework provides a multilevel security to the devices working with Snapdragon chips. The security is provided by combining a hardware level solution with next generation software for strong biometrics security used to secure online banking and payments.

Since, IDC expects that by 2018, all premium smart devices will include biometrics for mobile security. The latest agreement with Qualcomm with EyeLock is said to help accelerate the utilization of Iris Biometrics in the field of IoT.
