Symantec, the American security software company has officially announced early today that it has acquired Javelin Networks and Appthority to bolster its stand in the business of mobile and enterprise security products.
Appthority is a San Francisco based startup related to cybersecurity field and is known to offer software that can detect data loss and privacy vulnerabilities in mobile apps. The highlighting features of the enterprise mobile threat detection company are automated app-vetting, app-threat scoring, and continuous app analysis.
Symantec plans to integrate Appthority technology into its Endpoint Protection Mobile(SEP Mobile). FYI, SEP Mobile was launched last year when Symantec acquired Skycure.
“The Appthority technology extends SEP Mobile’s capabilities in limiting unwanted app behaviors, supporting regulatory compliance and assessing vulnerabilities”, said Adi Sharabhani, the Senior Vice President of Symantec’s OS Security.
In another purchase deal, Symantec has announced that it has acquired the Austin headquartered Javelin Networks for $5 million.
Precisely speaking, Javelin Networks is known to protect enterprises from Microsoft’s Active Directory(AD) Attacks.
NOTE- Active Directory is a directory service offered to users of the Windows Server operating system and was developed by Microsoft. The OS is said to be prone to cyber attacks.
The technology of Javelin Networks is known to expose exploitable backdoors in an AD and Symantec wants to integrate this technology into its endpoint security portfolio.
Israel based Javelin Networks is a computer security startup founded in 2014 and is to know for its AI obfuscation and advanced forensics methodologies.
