United States amongst most vulnerable countries to Cyber Attack

The United States stands at the top of the list of most vulnerable countries that are susceptible to cyber-attacks. And following the Donald Trump-led nation is most developed countries like the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Singapore, Ireland, and New Zealand with Denmark occupying the last position in the list related to most attractive countries to target for cybercriminals.

And the report was compiled and released recently by NordVPN with a title Cyber Risk Index in which it highlighted the fact that 18 out of 50 countries analyzed were among the high cyber risk countries constituting 70% of the world populace.

NordVPN confirmed in its report that though the developed countries are well skilled in thwarting cyber attacks to the utmost level, their population seems to be failing to fall prey on an individual note- mostly due to lack of awareness.

As the populace residing in the said countries had higher income and were mostly seen spending time online, they were said to become soft targets to cybercriminals.

“Hackers do not look for victims, but instead look to exploit the opportunities like the pickpockets do in crowded places. Mostly they spin traps and wait for the victims to fall into them to make higher gains”, said Daniel Markuson, a digital privacy expert.

Internet is said to gain over a billion users in the next 5 years predicts NordVPN in its report which also highlighted the fact that the growth will be mainly witnessed from countries like China, India, Indonesia, Ukraine, Thailand, South Africa, Mexico, Philippines, and Russia.

So, the cybercriminals will have the choice of selecting victims from a larger pool of targets says Markunson.
