VMware offers ‘App Defense’ for Enterprise Security

VMware, the leader in the world of Virtualization is offering a concept of Goldilocks Zone in the form of ‘App Defense’ to boost Enterprise Security. ‘App Defense’ is a network safeguarding concept where the Virtualizing Hypervisor sits at the ideal location in the network to improve security.

The new network security concept was announced by VMware at the recently held VMworld which witnessed experts disclosing some astonishing details about Goldilocks Vision.

AppDefense aims to provide an intent based security capability that is able to identify and block cyber threats. The sophistication of AppDefense is as such that it understands and learns when an application is operating normally and when it is deviating from its intended state.

As much of the endpoint security systems are focusing on identifying and blocking internal threats in a network, AppDefense simplifies this process of security systems by ensuring that only good processes can run and bad processes are blocked and terminated.

Tom Corn, Senior Vice President for Security Product at VMware says that the automation feature in AppDefense helps in alerting admin about malicious threats, helps in quarantining them on time and blocking VM operations and snapshotting a VM- helpful for backups and disaster recovery.

Corn said that VMware started the project of AppDefense Technology with a code name called Project Goldilocks two years ago. He added that protecting network endpoints was the aim of the project when it started. And till date, it has achieved all the success expected at that time.

More details about AppDefense will be updated shortly!
